Recently, Duck Duck has been spreading her wings. I found her twice outside the garden fence. We knew we needed to clip one of her wings, but forgot about it. So the other day, I went out to feed her and Big Red, and she was GONE! We looked all over but couldn't find her. So we thought she got ate. However, I continued to call out to her throughout the day, in case she was near enough to hear me.
Well, it was getting dark. Olaf started barking, and I remembered I needed to close the greenhouse door. I step outside, and Lo and Behold! Duck Duck was outside a few feet from the RV! I was SOOOOOO happy to see her! Gordy wanted to get the net, but I told him 'no', she'll follow me. And that she did! Got her back in the garden, clipped her wing, and all is well.
I hate to clip her wing, but if she flies away she will die. There's nothing for her to eat in the desert, and LOTS of predators. And since I saved her from living a life in a cage, I'm ok with it.
Yesterday, I was heading into Bullhead, and the desert flowers were in bloom! I need to remember to keep a shovel and a bucket in the car, so I can get some specimens off the roadside. Then, I saw a family of burros right along side the road! On the way back, I saw a yucca in full bloom - I've never seen that before. Spring is definitely here!
